Overview
When building your squad in FC Mobile, particularly for modes like Head-to-Head or Manager Mode, it's smart to pay attention to a player's work rates. These stats can affect how players position themselves during matches, and they're sometimes mistaken for overall ability in attack or defense.
What Are Work Rates?
Work rates come in two categories: attacking (ATT) and defending (DEF). Each can be rated as high, medium, or low, showing how actively a player engages in those phases.
Attacking Work Rates (ATT)
This tells you where a player tends to hang out when your team has the ball.
High: They'll advance far up the field, focusing on the wings and inside the opponent's box.
Medium: Expect them in the middle third, up to the edge of the penalty area.
Low: They'll stay back, between your own box and midfield.
Defending Work Rates (DEF)
This indicates positioning when the opponent has possession.
High: Players drop deep into your defensive zone, including the box and corners.
Medium: They'll cover from the edge of your box to midfield.
Low: They position themselves mainly in midfield.
Recommended Work Rates by Position
Here's a breakdown of optimal work rates for different roles. The first part is ATT, the second DEF. Keep in mind, non-ideal rates don't make a player useless—they just might lead to positioning issues.
Center Backs (CB): Low/High
This setup keeps them anchored in defense, ready for quick counters. Medium/High works well too for a bit more flexibility.
Full Backs or Wing Backs (LB/RB/LWB/RWB): Medium/High
Perfect for balancing defense and support. If you go with High/Medium, they'll push forward more but might leave gaps behind.
Defensive or Central Midfielders (CDM/CM): Medium/High
Great for CDMs to provide solid cover. In formations without a dedicated CDM, aim for at least one CM with this to bolster your backline. Medium/Medium is a solid alternative.
Attacking Midfielders (CAM): High/Medium
This ensures they're central and quick to join attacks, linking up with forwards effectively.
Wide Midfielders or Wingers (LM/RM/LW/RW): High/Low
Ideal for pure offense— they'll surge ahead without much defensive responsibility. High/Medium can add some balance if needed.
Strikers (ST): High/Low
Keeps them focused on scoring opportunities up top, with minimal tracking back. Medium/Low is okay if you want them dropping deeper occasionally.
Why Work Rates Matter?
Choosing the right work rates helps your team stay organized. For example, a defender with high attacking work rate might wander forward, exposing your goal. On the flip side, attackers with high defensive rates could drop too deep, reducing your threat going forward. Experiment in matches to see what fits your style, and remember that overall stats play a big role too.
By tailoring work rates to your tactics, you'll create a more cohesive unit in FC Mobile. Happy gaming!
